Completed a book after a long time- The Day I Stopped Drinking Milk by Sudha Murty
Simple read. written in simple comprehensible language with no tough words. There was not a single instance when I needed to look up for meaning in a dictionary. The book is a compilation of short stories relating her real life experiences. Each story teaches you a lesson worth remembering throughout your life.
I didn't read book in a one go which I usually do with others instead read all the stories one by one and relished the simplistic ideas and notions of living for sometime in mind.
At the end, I just feel that one must resolve personal conflicts and rise above self' to be compassionate and helpful to others.
I had always relished this idea of doing social work or joining some NGO to help poor people, rural areas and deprived classes. However, after reading Sudha Murty's experiences of social work, I can conclude that social work doesn't merely needs a compassionate heart but an alert and agile mind too to judge where efforts needs to be invested.
