Today my maid Sareena complained that she has a train to catch tomorrow but she cannot just because of these politico-religious goons of India. Her train will pass Lucknow around 4:00 PM which would be too risky for her. High court verdict on Ayodhya will come tomorrow at 3:30 PM. She is taking her three year old little daughter to her in-laws. She is Muslim and afraid of both the religious sects. She said, "whatever may be the verdict didi we poor people have to suffer."
She was cleaning floor, while talking thus to me. Suddenly she stopped in the middle and mused, “Why can’t they build a hospital or a school for poor people instead of a temple or mosque.”I think ‘Shri Ram’ would be happier to see people working in constructive way rather than fighting in the name of God.
Do we need to define ourselves as Hindu/Muslim? At the end of the day we have to live together. Why can't we come to a common understanding?
